Project: Washington Plaza

Size: 28 Units
Schedule Duration: 7 Months
Architect: Walter Parks Architects
Washington Plaza was awarded as the Commercial Renovation of the Year by Richmond’s Alliance to Conserve Old Neighborhoods. The award made it MGT’s fourth Project of the Year winner. The 28-unit senior living facility was completed in less than 6 months from permit issuance.
As a result of more than 10 years of vacancy and no maintenance, the former Booker T. Washington High School site had suffered excessive water damage to interior walls and floors, vandalism—including broken windows, holes in the walls, and graffiti—and damage to the wood trim original to the building. The project features a community room, sunroom, and exterior landscaping along with restored stairwells, the original chalkboards, restored wood trim and wood windows original to the construction.
